The "Boys" Plus 1 Come Back Home

It has happened to mostly all of us, either we have come home to our parent's home with a "significant other" or our child has brought their "significant other" to our home. This past weekend my two boys came to see my new residence in New Jersey and the oldest, TJ, brought his girlfriend with him. I was excited to show them the new place and cook them big meals; they loved both.tj

When I asked them what they wanted to do, TJ said before he left he wanted to show Kelly where he grew up.

Mercer County in Central New Jersey is a great place for kids. The school systems, especially in Robbinsville Twp., formerly Washington Twp. are great. The area has grown significantly since my kids were younger.

On Sunday we made the trip to Foxmoor in Robbinsville, NJ. On the way they pointed out landmarks and shared memories including Mercer County Park; fishing in the lake, skating at the Ice Arena and bike rides on the trails. boys

When we approached Robbinsville and they saw how the area had grown with the near completion of the Washington Town Center, they were impressed. Then came the memories of the Shoppes of Foxmoor and Mr. Sam at Marazzos Thriftway.

foxmoorOur old house on Tynemouth Court in the Notting Hill Section of Foxmoor still had the original bench and flower barrel. "This place was great when we were kids, we were all over the place on our bikes or roller blades and you could really clean up on Halloween" they told Kelly.tj

There was one final stop at Hallo Pub, located on the border of Robbinsville and Hamilton Square, for ice cream. We walked thru the door and were happy to see that nothing had changed. They both ordered their favorite, Black Raspberry with Chocolate Johnny's and it was still as good as they remembered, and the place had not changed either.

Both "boys" were happy and excited to see the place where they grew up, witnessing fond memories of their childhood and sharing them with a special person. I was happy and grateful to be there and witness another "step" along the way.
