Slippery Band's Annual St. Patrick's Day Event-March 15, 2008

Every January I start receiving calls from tenants looking to book a property for a weekend in March. The reason? Slippery Band at The Ocean Drive.

Slippery Band plays an annual show at The OD, you can catch them THIS Saturday, March 15th at 9 pm.

I recently caught up with Chris Noon of Stone Groove Productions and Slippery Band, who was nice enough to answer a few questions.

1. Tell me a little about your company Stone Groove Productions.

Stone Groove is a music management company founded in 1993 & based in the Philly area representing bands & musicians - both original music & nightclub/cover bands. Our goal is to build long careers and relationships with the artists we represent - our motto is "musicians for musicians".

2. You also manage & perform with Slippery Band. How would you describe the band and the type of music Slippery Band plays?

Slippery Band is an 8 piece band (including a horn section) and we're really just a party band. We play many styles & genres but our goal is & has always been the same - playing music that makes our audience happy.

3. I understand that Slippery Band now plays mostly at weddings and corporate functions. Is that a different style show than what we get to see in Sea Isle at The Ocean Drive?

Slippery Band was a nightclub band for many years (1989 thru 2001) and the Ocean Drive in Sea Isle City was our home base for a decade. We all grew up playing on that stage every Saturday for 11 straight summers. In 2001, we decided that we'd had a great run & moved in another direction, performing at corporate events & weddings. Yes, our OD show will be different - we'll bring back some older material that wouldn't be "wedding friendly" & really it's just a chance to reconnect for a night with some old friends & have a great time. Plus we won't have to wear suits & ties!

4. Will Slippery Band be performing anywhere else at the shore this year? Where else can our readers catch Slippery Band if they're unable to make it to Sea Isle this weekend?

St Patty's at The OD is always our only public appearance at the shore, though we do play many weddings from Cape May to Avalon to the AC area. The OD will be our only nightclub date in 2008, but we do make appearances at a few Festivals & charity events throughout the year. You can always find that info on our website.

5. Are there any other bands or artists that you work with who have upcoming shows in the shore area?

Yes, but they won't be getting down here until the summertime!

6. Where can we find more information on Stone Groove Productions, Slippery Band and the other talent you work with?

Please visit our site http://www.slipperyband.com/ for info on Slippery Band and http://www.stonegroove.com/ for info on the other acts that we represent. Thanks for your time!
