The Tree Tavern- "Hidden" restaurant in Wanaque, NJ 07465

I find it quite amazing how local points of interest come to my attention.  I use "google alerts" so I am informed by e-mail whenever "keywords of interest" are mentioned on the internet.  I have my hometown of Wanaque, NJ and Haskell, NJ set up for alert notifications.  This morning, I followed an alert link titled  "Pizza and Wine Perfect Together" which took me to www.nj.com to the article.  In the article I was reminded of Tree Tavern Pizza, which I was aware of as it is a locally made Pizza found in the frozen departments of area supermarkets.  What I didn't know was that they have a Restaurant and it is located at 17 Park Street in Wanaque!  Who knew?  I didn't.  I also learned that the owners, The Ryans, have an online wine shop, www.highpointwines.com and have "Pizza Nights" at their Restaurant.  Since I have been craving Pizza lately, I thought that might be a fun thing to do with my sisters and/or friends some night.  But when I "googled" for The Tree Tavern Restaurant, and went to the website, there are no posted hours and no information about the Restaurant itself.  Undeterred, I followed the link to High Point Wines and saw a "special" for a "Pig Roast", but still no mention of Restaurant hours or Pizza Night.

The Tree Tavern started as a tavern and restaurant on Crosby Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey. It was a landmark location in Paterson through the 1950's and 1960's right in the heart of the city. The Francia family presided over the restaurant from the very beginning. They froze the very first Tree Tavern Pizza in 1955 and was the first frozen pizza ever sold  in a supermarket. The business prospered for many years as both a restaurant and a frozen pizza company. The restaurant was ultimately closed so the Francia's could focus on the retail business. It grew many fold through the years. It was acquired in 1992 by Provision Foods of  Wanaque. This Company is owned by Mike Ryan. It is still the same all natural delicious product you have enjoyed all these years. It is available at A&P, Foodtown, Kings, King Kullen, Shoprite and Stop & Shop stores.

I haven't discovered an actual website for The Tree Tavern Restaurant, but they are discoverable on the web on several other websites, like www.meetup.com where there is reverance to special events that are hosted at the Tree Tavern Restaurant "when the owner wants to".  The Ryans also own an online wine store, www.highpointwines.com and on that site they are "offering" a special right now:  A Pig Roast dinner event at The Tree Tavern. 

I will update this post when I get additional information, but you can be ABSOLUTELY SURE I will be visiting the 17 Park Street location in the next few days to check things out.  I may just have to purchase and go to that Pig Roast to get to the bottom of things.
