All the real estate offices in this area are advertise for new Agents. I've never seen a period where they aren't trying to find new bodies or recycled old ones. Why?
Everyone thinks it's an easy way to make a living, you drive clients around for a day or two you show them several nice houses, then a big fat commission.
The business always was very complicated and now there are many additional ways to market properties such as on social media sites.
Also, there are many more Legal protections for both buyers and sellers. There's a lot more for a new real estate agent, and some older agents to learn. With prices falling like a stone both buyers and sellers are nervous about trusting their transactions to newcomer.
There's a wide-open front door at most Brokerages and a wide-open back door, the turnover rate for new agents is very high. Established agents get a large portion of their business from past customers and referrals. Newcomers don't have that luxury.
We only make money after a successful transaction, no weekly paycheck here. Some people jump right in and do well, but most need a year or more before they have an income stream. Before that, all they have is expenses.
