Wyckoff's Open Spaces

I am worried sick about the planet --- the seeming certainty that animals like the Polar Bear and the Panda will one day soon be extinct --- and tired of hearing political hacks saying that global warming isn't real. But, I do find myself concerned about towns like Wyckoff continuing to pay a lot of money to buy land, like the former site of Russell Orchards, to create parks. On the face of it, preserving land from further development is always a good thing, but in this economy, where is the money coming from? There are towns that have to close their municipal buildings, one or two days a week, because they can't afford to keep them open, and others that are cutting services, and eliminating staff.

It's tough to come down on any side but that which preserves land, but I worry about the town paying too much for property the seller/builder realized wasn't going to net him what he thought when he constructed homes people could no longer afford in a location that wasn't prime. Just asking.
