I can not imagine cleaning all the bathrooms in a 10,000 sq ft home - your area is as diverse as mine
Thesa - I just put this up--you are fast! I figure if you can afford the house, you can afford the maid service. When I started out in Real Estate back in 1997, I worked with a broker who owned a 6500 sq. ft. home. She cleaned it herself every Sunday if you can imagine! I was tired just thinking about it.
Ashley, High Desert sounds like a fun place to visit, do you take your family there ? How far out is it ?
ooooh! I want the home in that last picture posted at the bottom. It looks great!
This is a very comprehensive resource Ashley. Are the home styles as diverse as the pricing? I love adobe, but know it isn't for everyone.
Missy -High Desert is in the foothills of Albuquerque and it is about 15 min. from the Big I, which is a good center point for town. We like the walking trails and we use to go up there more but have found Elena Gallegos to be a nice place to hike as well.
Danny - Isn't that a great house? It caught my eye with the red window trim!
Wish I had the energy to hike !!!!!!!! ha ha
Tina - In High Desert, nearly all of the homes are stucco. They are designed to blend naturally into the environment. High Desert has gone to great lengths to keep the topography as natural as possible. The neighborhood has nighttime-light restrictions as well.
Ashley, that is nice to hear they are keeping the homes as natural as possible. Last I was in Albuquerque, the natural surroundings were one the things I liked most. I was just about to graduate college and seriously considered moving to NM to work for an environmental action group. I ended up staying in Washington DC for grad school instead. Hmm. . . how different my life would have been.
Missy - Well I do a slow gentle pseudo hike! But we get out in the foothills and it's a nice change.
Tina - It is interesting to see how different Glenwood Hills and High Desert are. They are right next to each other but Glenwood Hills is older and has mature landscaping and they didn't design the neighborhood to blend into the environment. Both are very attractive areas each offering a unique living experience. Your life would have really gone down a different path wouldn't it have?
Hey Ashley! GREAT post! I love learning about your territory. Tell me about the weather there and some of the activities. It might be a good place for a Florida homeowner to buy a second home, or it might be that a NM homeowner would buy a FL second home....let's compare notes.
Jack
Ashley - this is a 5!!! What great Alburquerque, NM info - thanks for sharing!
Jack - My husband moved from Orlando to ABQ when we got engaged and the two major things for him was the lack of oxygen at the higher elevation and the lower humidity. He really had to adjust to those. Our weather is sunny and dry. Visitors have to make sure and stay hydrated. There is a lot of hiking, skiing, and golfing. Downtown and Nobhill really come to life at night! There is also casinos in the area. Make sure you take a trip on the Tram. And we are home to the "International Balloon Fiesta". Jack I can see New Mexicans keeping a condo on the beach for summer living and a tropical break during the winter. Albuquerque would give Floridians a break from the hot humid summers. With a downtown loft they could enjoy all the summer fun. Wow this is almost a blog in itself!
Cyndee - Thanks I am glad you stopped by my ABQ blog.
Ashley,
I really like your photos on this one. You really do an excellent job of blogging about your area.
Rita - Thanks you! I have enjoyed learning about NC from you.
Ashley I was just rereading this today and it has such a wealth of information - you did a really great job - again, kudos to you.
Cyndee thanks for stopping by again. I appreciate the nice comment.
Ashley- I, too, commend your research. I like High Desert because of its close access to the mountains, the way the homes are integrated into the landscape, and the natural instead of formal gardens. i also like their having detached and detached, smaller and larger homes. You take great pictures.
Eloise - Thank you for stopping by. I enjoy your comments.
I wonder what it looks like inside under that rotunda?
Danny - Its a great looking house isn't it?
Ashley - Great Localism post - rated a 5!!
Paula - Thanks! I am glad you stopped by.
