Albuquerque Museum of Art & History-- FREE on Wednesdays!

The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History offers intriguing special exhibitions, an excellent permanent collection,  the outdoor sculpture garden, films in the Gem Theater, and FREE general admission on Wednesdays!

Albuquerque Museum of Art & HistoryLocated just off Old Town, in Albuquerque, NM, the Art & History Museum features both Southwestern Art exhibits and also historical exhibits chronicling 400 years of Albuquerque's past.

Right now, and through June 7th, the museum is hosting a special exhibition called "Jewel of the Railroad Era: the Alvarado Hotel," drawing attention to that old classic of historic Downtown Albuquerque of yesteryear.

Next up is a  special exhibition entitled "Experimental Geography," organized by Independent Curators International. Promotional material for this event on the www.cabq.gov website indicate that the artists "engage the earth's topography in a range of experimental ways, including interactive computer kiosks, sound and video installations, photography, sculpture, and experimental cartography." I'm not sure exactly what this means, but it should be interesting to find out, when this exhibition runs June 28th-Sept. 20th.
