I wrote the post below last year to introduceAlbuquerque, New Mexico's annual international event and to celebrate my very first ride in a hot air balloon.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the calm and peacefulness of the ride. From start to finish, from take off to landing, it was like floating on a cloud. Reflecting on that flight, it is difficult to reconcile it with yesterday's tragic events relating to a balloon flight. Of course, on a calm uneventful flight, we tend to forget how really frail our balloon vessels are. I wrote:
Our annual 9-day balloon fiesta event in Albuquerque, New Mexico starts in two days. Just in case you are unable to attend, here is a way to enjoy a ride vicariously - come fly with me.
