Club Chaos Eye Candy: MonteLago Village

Just thirty minutes east of the dazzling neon and non-stop excitement of the Las Vegas Strip, tucked behind mountains of red, beige and brown, lies the peaceful desert oasis of Lake Las Vegas.

A master planned community in Henderson NV, Lake Las Vegas offers housing from condos to multi-million dollar homes with golf course, lake and Strip views; championship golf on three different courses; world-class hotel facilities at the Ritz Carlton and Loews; and an array of shopping, dining, entertainment and recreational choices at MonteLago Village.

Picture a charming Italian waterfront village with cobblestone streets and a variety of boutique shops and restaurants and you have the inspiration for MonteLago Village. Host to special events such as art festivals and wine tastings, the village also features a floating stage for everything from Jazz On The Lake to ice skating.

MonteLago Village is a great place to spend an afternoon or evening, or you can book an extended getaway at one of the nearby luxury resorts. Enjoy this virtual stroll in and around MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas - a landmark destination in Henderson NV.

How to get there:
Take the I-215 beltway east until it ends and becomes Lake Mead Drive. Continue east on Lake Mead about five miles past Boulder Highway to Lake Las Vegas Parkway. Turn left and follow the road past the first roundabout to MonteLago Boulevard. Turn right to MonteLago Village.

Hi John,

What a cool place! I didn't even know it existed. But there are no people - except in one shot. Is it really that deserted?

Its gorgeous - and like italy without the people...........that is weird in a way that you were able to get so many shots without people.......talk about a 'planned' community!  Beautiful :-)

Carolyn - Thanks for running this contest. It gave me a little extra motivation to grab my camera and update my photo library.

Michael and Liz - There were quite a few people strolling, browsing the shops and having lunch (mostly indoors), but I usually wait a few seconds for them to pass. You raise a good point about the images felling deserted. Maybe my next challenge should be how to capture a few people in my photos in a way that I'm still satisfied with the overall image. Thanks for your insights!

John, it does look like the kind of place one would wander around at a festival or wine tasting. I wouldn't mind either one myself!

John - What a beautiful area!  Your photos are tremendous!!  The mountains, the water, the cobblestone streets....such an Italian flair.  I love it.

John~

As I read your post I began to wonder about the lake and the community. You took me there and now I am CURIOUS!!! THX!

John, this is just beautiful, and I think a little more my style than the Las Vegas strip (although I do have fun there).

Hi John...You have provided stunning pictures to prove MonteLago Village is full of eye candy.  With shots like this you should be able to entice many to move there.

Kate

What beautiful photos, John.  You should take your camera out more often!
