NV, Las Vegas: A Community Bands Together

Last week a 30 year old ironworker died after falling 50-feet to the ground while attached to a steel beam at the Cosmopolitan hotel and condo project on the Strip. A memorial service was held for him on Sunday at a local mortuary. During the service a gentleman that no one recognized came forward and said some kind words about the deceased and then proceeded to walk off with the monies that had been donated by co-workers and friends! Several thousand dollars had been donated and was supposed to be used to help the ironworker's widow cover funeral expenses and to ship the body to Texas for burial. How anyone could be so cold hearted to do something like this is incomprehensible!

Some good has come from the bad though....many in the community joined together and though the efforts of the local TV and Radio stations have raised more than $15,000 to replace this money. An anonymous person, upon hearing the news, donated $10,000. Any extra monies raised will be put away for the education of the 4-year-old son.
