VIVA VEGAS! Local's Update - May 2008

Greetings friends and colleagues,

Are you ready for another wild week in business? Before the mania begins, I have a few quick things to share:

#1 - "Lunchtime With Ira, Live From the Las Vegas Hilton"

Today (5-12-08), I'll be filming the local's television and radio show "Lunchtime with Ira, Live From the Las Vegas Hilton". I'm humbled to be selected as a guest on this show which interviews local Vegas celebrities, entertainers, community leaders, and iconic personalities.

Host Ira David Sternberg and I will discuss subjects such as my childhood acting coach, what it was like to grow up in Los Angeles, my feelings for Vegas, the current luxury market, and celebrities. I may even hint on my political future, haha, got ya.

Past guests include Robin Leach, Don Rickles, Rita Rudner, Clint Holmes, Johnny Mathis, Rich Little, Lance Burton, Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, and members of both Smash Mouth & Lynyrd Skynyrd.

#2 - The Brokerage

Last week, I received phone calls (from two separate local colleagues) offering me congratulations for becoming the sole owner of Luxury Realty Group. Contrary to the false rumor, Bruce Hiatt does not intend on leaving Las Vegas anytime soon nor am I now taking 100 percent ownership of the firm. Without going into too much detail, it's true that Bruce and I are hard at work on our business model, including making powerful changes.

2007 was a great year for our firm, allowing us to utilize the currently-challenged real estate market. We're dedicated to continually improving the way we deliver the latest news, market trends, and helpful information about the Las Vegas high-rise condominium and Las Vegas luxury home markets. We take to heart the commitment of properly and professionally representing our home - Las Vegas.

#3 - Hey, people of Vegas - WAKE UP!

Last week, an out-of-state journalist called me to try and find horror stories about properties such as Panorama Towers and Turnberry Towers. Their angle for the story? To find desperate owners who had foreclosures in those buildings so they could ask them if the amenities at those developments were no longer working. Well too bad, the last time I visited both Panorama Towers and Turnberry Towers, all major amenities seemed to be working fine.

Amenity doom-and-gloom? Listen up people of Las Vegas, you need to put your foot down and start taking a stand for your city...

I challenge you to do something positive for Vegas this week...share something factual and positive with someone you know. Whether it's emailing the encouraging statistics recently released by the GLVAR or sharing the excitement that the Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino just became the largest LEED-certified property in the world...DO YOUR PART AND LET ME KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!

Here is my good word of the week...Luxury Realty Group recently listed for sale and closed escrow (approx. $4.75 million) on an extremely rare three-story penthouse property on the Las Vegas Strip (in less than 88 days on the market). As usual, happy stories such as this and/or several record-breaking penthouse sales at The Harmon Hotel, Spa & Residences were virtually ignored.
