I love working with my Dad, even though if you'd asked me in my 20's if I would have wanted to, I would have said NO WAY!
Life was much different then, and I had very strong opinions. Well, I still have strong opinions, but maybe we've both just managed to look at things differently, because we're having a blast working together as a father/daughter real estate team.
Today, we had tickets to go to our local minor league baseball team, the Reno Aces. All 6 of us were going to go - my Dad, Mom, my husband, our two boys ages 12 and 3, and me! We have tickets to sit down on a patio, have all we can eat, and there's even a fireworks show at the end of the game.
Well, Dad got a really solid phone lead today, and we ended up showing property at 2pm. Turns out the gal loves the house and someone has to write an offer at 5pm tonight.
Dad volunteered to 'take one for the team'. We gave away his tickets to another agent in the office, and after showing property to another prospective client, we jammed back to the office to print blank forms of everything he'd need before he ran out again.
I'm sad that he and Mom are not going to the game (did I mention she's going to Mexico for a week first thing in the morning? No, I didn't! Well, she begged off to pack and get her stuff together, so I guess I don't blame her either.) but my family and I will make the most of it.
My point is, it's always great to have a teammate to rely on - and it works really well for our clients because someone is always available - but sometimes when it's your Dad, it's bittersweet. I would have really liked to snap some pictures of my Dad and my two boys at a baseball game together. It will be Zachary's first game ever tonight. I'll be sure to take some pictures for all of you and share them in the coming days...
So, all I can say about tonight is, GO RENO ACES, and GO DAD GO!
