NV, LAS VEGAS: POLITICIANS AND THE 'DO NOT CALL LIST'

signAs time drew close to the Nevada caucus' the phones started ringing...political volunteers wanting your opinion, automated phone messages chatting away...in all cases doing surveys and pushing their candidate. People complained that they were on the "Do Not Call" list and the phone calls should not have been coming in. In case you are unaware the "Do Not Call" does not cover charitable organizations or political campaigns. How convenient that this bill got passed by our government and they managed to exempt themselves.

The November elections are 10 months away...through Spring, Summer, and Fall the calls will continue....Secretary of State Ross Miller has a deal for you - a "please do no call" list. Nevadans who register will be noted on the Secretary of State's voter registration list, frequently used by campaigns to call registered voters. You can sign onto this list by going to: http://www.silverstate08.com/

A lot of frustrated voters are tired of having their dinners and evenings interrupted by these calls. The list is called 'voluntary' because it's up to the campaigns to voluntarily honor the voter's preference. Remember political campaigns are exempt and can do what they want on this.

Mary, I don't answer my phone unless it is someone that I know, so the calls don't bother me!

Mary

That is pretty crazy what happens

Sincerely

Mary, that just irks me. WE can't call, but the politicians can. Not fair... plus they get their postage free. I sure wish we did!

Mary - Isn't is convenient that Washington is exempt.  How typical that is!

Mary, Ditto what Candy said.  I love your graphic but it needs to be bigger.  These old eyes had trouble reading the little graphic.  When I figured out what it said I thought wow what an appropraite graphic (lol).

Mary, yes, the politicians exempted themselves.  doesn't that just take the cake?   But with the market so goofy, many real estate agents could argue that they've morphed into an eleemosynary organization.

Boy I tell you, this is really been a problem the last week in California, up until Super Tuesday, I bet it gets much worse. I do not blame you for blogging on this topic. I have always laughed that politicians are exempt from the DO NOT CALL LISTS - typical, ha ha ha. but still, a ironic as it is, it is totally annoying. Lance
