New Year Fireworks and Free Rides in Reno

New Year Fireworks and Free Rides in RenoChrismas has come and gone but the biggest party of the year is only a few days away. Saturday is New Year's Eve. Millions of people across the country will be ringing in the New Year in all kinds of ways. Many of the festivities will include an alcoholic beverage of some kind (for the adults). Here in Reno, there will be fireworks and free rides for anyone who's interested.

Every year, the skies above downtown Reno light up with a fireworks display unlike any other at the stroke of midnight. The City of Reno is teaming up with Circus Circus, Club Cal Neva, Eldorado, Harrah's and the Silver Legacy to put on an amazing fireworks show from four different roof tops. You have to see it to believe it.

Just about every casino in the Reno area will be holding some kind of New Year's Eve celebration. The Silver Legacy, Peppermill, Eldorado and Harrah's Reno all have something happening for the big night. The Knitting Factory has KJ KOS spinning the hits. Dead Winter Carpenters will be playing at the Great Basin Brewery. Even teens can get in on the fun at CommRow.

However you celebrate the New Year here in Reno, make sure you do it safely by designating a driver. If you don't have a designated driver, the RTC (Regional Transportation Commission) will be offering its Safe Ride Home program again this year. All rides on RTC Ride, RTC Rapid and RTC RapidConnect will be absolutely free on New Year's Eve. And, of course, the RTC Sierra Spirit (Reno's downtown bus system) is always free as well. If you need more info or assistance, please call 775-348-RIDE (348-7433). Make a plan to come home safely BEFORE you head out to celebrate the new year.
