I blog in two different communities, The AR Community and The Internet Community. I love the traffic generated by AR. The feedback and camaraderie from fellow members is great.
But I felt I was missing something. I really wanted to spice up my writing space and be able to speak to an audience outside of AR. So I bought www.ryanhanley.com and began my own independent hosted site.
For those of you that write in both worlds what advice can you give someone who is just starting out? AR makes everything so easy I think I'm kind of spoiled.
I can't wait to get some feedback...
Thank you,
Ryan

Not much feeback to give you, just a welcome to the Rain! I recently set up a wordpress blog after attending RE Bar Camp, but have not even posted one time yet. I find that I don't have time to blog, tweet, keep up with facebook and just answer everyday e-mail, I'm not sure what I was thinking that I could handle wordpress too!
Hi Ryan, I also like AR, but find that a self-hosted blog is very helpful for generating local SEO. It is definitely a lot more work, but does really pay off. There are several other blogs, like ProBlogger.net and MyTechOpinion.com where you can get a lot of information about how to start off on the right foot. ProBlogger just recently had a series, 31 days to build a better blog, which walks you through 31 days worth of ideas to jump start your blog. Good luck with all of your blogging! I think you'll find it will really pay off.
