“As a 9/11 first responder and 20 year veteran of the NYPD, I know firsthand the daily sacrifices of our cops, firefighters and emergency personnel in their efforts to protect and serve our community. While the cost paid by our military veterans in the service of our country has been at times too great.

On September 11th this year I had the honor and privilege to swim the East River for a local wounded warrior, SPC Brendan Marrocco, who sacrificed all four of his limbs for his country – our nation’s sole surviving quadruple amputee. I swam to say thank you to a patriot on his day (Patriot Day) and raise some money to help build Brendan a home to call his own. My swim was insignificant and small compared to the sacrifice, commitment and courage he so selflessly gave to his country on Easter Sunday 2009.

How could we possible repay him? What can we do to say thank you? As a Homes for Heroes Affiliate, I get an opportunity to say thank you to thousands of local heroes every day just by doing what I love most – buying and selling real estate! Now how cool is that!”
