The idea for the festival came from a movie called Osmosis Jones. Bill Murray starred as a compulsive eater with a goal of attending the Super Bowl of junk food, The National Buffalo Wing Fesival.
Ironically, their wasn't one.
That is when native Buffalonian Drew Cerza, now affectionately known as the Wing King decided to make it happen back in 2002. This is a case of Real Life knocking off Hollywood!
Thanks for the idea Bill!
The National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival is this Labor Day Weekend August 30-31 at Dunn Tire Park.

Hi Colleen! This chicken wing festival looks like yummy fun! I've had a big time lately popping around to our local festivals.
Looks yummy and sounds like a load of fun. Don't think I can clear my schedule that quickly though.
Just as well that I'm not in striking range. I LOVE TGIF's Buffalo Wings. (Unfortunately, my 2 kids and hubby think they smell atrocious, so whenever I nuke a few for my dining pleasure, I hear about it.)
It may be only 9:30 in California, but I could sure go for some wings right now. That picture looks tooooo tasty!
Lizette -- this is a fun one!
Jan -- clear next Labor Day weekend! It is a lot of fun!
Mary -- I can guarantee that if you were to ever have Frank and Theresa's wings, well those won't ever do!
Wings are good any time of the day... but they are best enjoyed with a cold beer!
My mouth is watering looking at that picture! I hope you'll go and enjoy some.
Georgina -- I have been recruited, I will be at both days ..... Drew was a great supporter of Buffalo Homecoming, he needs volunteers, so volunteer I will...
