I 've been toying with the idea to get a logo for my home staging company. I've talked to a few people and have gotten mixed response. Some say branding is very important to your company. It's a graphic representation of your company. Some say it's not important in our business.
I think it is. Here why, it's part of your marketing message. It not just about what you say but how you say it, and it's not about what you show but how you show it. That said, if you're going to go with a logo get it done right and hire a professional graphic designer.
Why you ask, because the logo represents your company and if your logo looks like an amateur designed it, then guess what? You won't be seen as true professional. We are a visual society. If we don't like what we see we walk away.
What do you think? To logo or not to logo that is the question!

Camela I absolutely believe in a having good logo. I went without a good one for 3+ years and now that I have one I use it EVERYWHERE. It's on my polo workshirts, all advertising and soon it will be on my van and lawn signs. Definitely worth the investment in having one designed! If Renee Pratta was still blogging here she would say TOMA is SO-O important. Top Of the Mind Advertising, through a good logo and the branding that it brings makes it easier too.
Carmela: LOGO and Branding are HUGE! We are in the business of first impressions and our stuff better look FABULOUS! One of the first things I did when I got started was hire a graphic designer to create my logo. It was alot of money to fork out but I have no regrets.
I agree. It's better to get your logo and branding when you're first starting out, rather then later when you are already established.
Ditto on the logo. Very important. I think color is important, too. Our logo contains the same blue that appears on the message board here and it's used throughout our brochures and as a background on all email notices I post. I believe the color should be consistent so that realtors begin to recognize your company at a glance just by the color. Unfortunately, my staging partner disagrees. She wants to use colors that compliment whatever photo we are promoting.
Yes, a logo is very important! It represents you and your business and should be immediately recognizable. Just today a Realtor called me and said, "I've seen your card display at various properties and I always like the homes you stage....when I see your logo I know the home will look great." This was a great compliment and made me happy that my web designer also designed my logo three years ago.
Great post Carmela! You and I have discussed this personally and I think you are 100% right! I love the Logo you are considering and I think I will take your advice and just go for it.
Wendy- I think your right about the color. I told the artist to use the colors that are used on my website so it coordinates. it's nice to hear other stagers opinion. Thanks.
Maureen- That's my goal. To have my logo be recognized. That's what branding all about, name association.
Luci- You and I have discussed this. And I think you should go for it to. Do it right the first time.
Carmela: I have a dual degree in graphic design and merketing. In college, they drilled into our heads how important a logo is. Look at Toyota and Nike for example. You can see the logo all by itself and know what company that it represents. A great logo can stand on its' own. It needs to be simple, easily recognized and on everything you have to market your business. I had to revamp my busniess identity last year due to some problems, and have since come up with an even better logo than the first one I had. Sometimes as your business grows and changes, you may find it necessary to change certain elemements of your business. I think it is also necessary to keep your web site fresh. Change some of the images or the layout. Little changes can sometimes have the BIGGEST IMPACT... GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for the input. It's nice to hear other opinions. Your right about Nike just the name and you know what it is. I'll keep it in mind that sometimes change is good. Keep it fresh, good idea! i have the philosophy That everything happens for a reason, so if you had to change your logo, there probably was a good reason for it.
My logo isn't really a "logo" per-say, It's more "branding" - but it's on everything and every marketing piece we do from business cards, to T - shirts as well as our website, so it's sort of become our "logo". The picture of the candles is one I took myself, yes, we use these frequently in our Stagings to.
T-shirts, I never though about that. Something to think about. Thanks for the input.
I agree that a logo or brand image is very important for your company. It looks like you already one on your profile page. Are you looking for something new or different?
I recently hired a graphic artist to do my logo. That is my new logo. I like it, what do you think?
I think it's a good look for your company. Good luck to you!
