It's pretty unusual for a Long Island Feng Shui Consultant to give up-especially when we're right. After all, we are KNOWN for our Energy and focus and our Intention to turn a negative into a positive. I don't believe my children EVER remember me giving up before; when I was intent on something, I always found a way to work it out.

I know many of you are aware of my prior posts (and are probably tired of hearing about it) posts about the Village of Farmingdale's responsibility in allowing my basement to flood. It was pure neglect as they had known about the flooding from myself and my neighbors for a year and a half before they finally came to clean out the storm indrain (located directly in front of my home).

I know you read about all the black mold and how sick I was for over a year. And when I was finally hospitalized for breathing issues and anti fungal medications were given to me---I recovered in two days. It's been a full year this month and here's an update for you:

My son, Adam Schumacher and I were speaking of it the other day and I mentioned there was a town meeting due to start. " Why aren't you going? You don't quit, mom, go DO something." For a YEAR I have tried to "do something" and couldn't so much as get either anyone from the town to either respond to me or the Fireman's Fund, conveniently located in Texas to whom they sent my claim. It is more then frustrating to be treated as if you don't exist. I wondered how these people would feel if they were treated that way, but I was done and leaving this one to the Universe to handle!

Long before I ever heard of Feng Shui or the Law of Attraction I have always believed that the way you treat others will come right back to you, sooner or later. And I believe that even more now that I am so aware of Energy.

Adam had been at the house just a week prior when it was raining and had to get the car off the street because the rainwater was coming so high (again). Having never seen me give up, he grabbed the pictures he had taken and went to the meeting with my daughter. He only knew a few of the names of whom I had spoken to but they were both surprised to hear that there were other people there that had been flooded as well....from all over Farmingdale Village with claims that, like mine, were STILL in limbo. Farmingdale Village officials know HOW to fix the problem and they had a surplus of money this year (interesting that they didn't bring up the cutbacks they had enacted regarding the cleaning of these drains). I am far from the only one they have not assisted in any way.

It so happens that my son knows our new Mayor quite well...he worked for him for almost four years (which I had mentioned in my registered letter to him-which went unanswered). He was not the major when this began. THE VERY NEXT DAY THEY CAME TO CLEAN OUT OUR STORM INDRAIN. And see the demolition of my basement, though they did not discuss what, if anything, they intend to do about all the damage.

Which leads me to the age old question---is it TRULY not WHAT you know but WHO you know? Did they come, finally, because my son is well known and liked all over Farmingdale? Or worse, because a man had to step in? (Don't laugh, I have encountered this with more car dealerships then I care to mention!

There is strength in numbers and if you've given up, I've gotten a renewed strength to have the village officials step up and help every single resident who has suffered because of neglect. Instead of the "prettier" lights they plan to add to Farmingdale Village with their SURPLUS, maybe they should take care of their residents first and foremost. Come and be heard.
