Feng Shui in New York and Wholistic Healing: Feng Shui for your Body, Mind and SOUL
I gave my talk on Feng Shui recently on Long Island New York. It went well and I always leave time at the end of my seminars for questions. There are usually MANY questions and often times a place will close and I'll have to ask the people to call me and I'll be happy to answer them over the phone.
There were a few questions and I went over the answers and I had covered many topics of Feng Shui during the seminar. One in particular related to my experience working in a Wholistic Health Center that was located right here on Long Island and very well known for it's progressive and all natural approach to Health following Ancient Chinese Principles.
It related to blocked Energy Fields in the body just as Feng Shui relates to blocked or stagnant energy fields in a space. I didn't realize that some people may have personal questions, things they don't wish to discuss in front of an entire seminar so I was somewhat surprised when some of the attendees started lining up after the seminar.
Many of the people had stopped by to ask WHERE to obtain such treatments. One confided that she had cancer and others had incurable diseases. They, too, were so very tired of going from one doctor to another, something I can relate to.
In New York, my experience with doctors has been less then desirable. Thinking I MIGHT find a good doctor if I went into New York City, I booked an appointment with a highly rated doctor at a well known hospital. I waited an hour and a half to see him and when he finally came in, he didn't look at me, rather at my notes.
He didn't greet me, he didn't initially ask me why I was there but instead came the all important question: "How did you get MY name?" I had hoped at SOME point during the visit he would make eye contact but that didn't happen, either. He didn't answer my questions (something I have found is almost impossible to get a doctor to do) and instead wrote me out some prescriptions, sent me for more tests and I was on my way. Since he didn't look up, I wouldn't recognize him if I passed him on the street.
I'd turned back to Wholistic Health. To people that spent time with you, which treated your mind, body and soul. To people that truly cared about their patients. It's a rarity. These people that stopped to speak with me had very similar experiences with doctors-and wanted MORE.
There is an ancient art of healing called Amma Therapy. While some call it a "Massage," it is far more then that. It is a form of massage that seeks to get your body back into balance by enhancing the Energy. It is an art that will soon be lost forever.
Developed by Dr. Tina Sohn, Founder of The New Center for Wholistic Health, Education and Research, it is based on a practice done 5,000 years ago. It is, to me, FENG SHUI FOR THE BODY. Sadly, it is no longer being taught.
For anyone that wants to experience this wonderful form of treatment, there are two very special people that had worked at this wonderful place and provide true Amma Therapy. I wasn't able to find them for years and thought they had stopped practicing but due to an old friend who found me on Facebook, she knew where they were...
If you are on Long Island NY and wish to contact them, they are located in the beautiful Town of Huntington, Long Island. Dr. Kim Rosado and Dr. Faye Shenkman can be reached by calling (631) 367-7427. They also provide Acupuncture, Herbal Therapy, Tai Chi & Chi Gong at The Wholistic Healing Arts, LLC. And yes, the "W" is left IN WHOLISTIC to signify WHOLE.

Interesting Carole. Hope that you will be healed. I went to a Reki lady a few years ago and was suprised at what she knew about me and how wonderful, and changed I felt afterward.
BTW, your issue with the specialist happened to me too. Can you believe I was sent to a specialist after a abnormal mammogram and he never even looked me in the eye. The ultimate man only looking at your breasts!
Good luck, feel better.
Hi Carole-It is so frustrating and really irritating when someone you go to help you doesn't even look at you. I wish there was someone here in VA like that. I would love to have far less physical pain than I deal with on a daily basis. I don't know what your health challenges are but I sure hope you can get some help by something that looks at the person and not their chart. I have dealt with the same thing for years. I don't even go anymore. I just have learned to live with it as best as possible. Have a great Friday. <SMILE>
It is incredible that you had this experience with doctors. My manager has just been diagnosed with breast cancer and fortunatley she has a great surgeon who routinely gives here hugs and touches her hand when things get a bit scary. It sound like feng shui for the body would be a great thing for everyone who has some health challenges.
Carole--Finding the right doctor is very difficult so I understand why alternative medicine is so popular. Once you find someone who can help you that you feel comfortable with, it makes such a difference!

The hubs went to a Dr. recently, referred by another. He said she never looked at him, just at his chart and never asked a question, just started telling him what to do. He stopped her, and asked if she could answer a few questions, first. He said she seemed surprised that he had intelligent questions about his own care, and then seemed genuinely interested in explaining exactly what was happening with his knee, and what he could do to help himself without further medical attention. A short time later, another visit, same Dr., same scenario...I guess they just get caught up in the day to day and forget that they are dealing with PEOPLE...
Thank you for sharing this comprehensive view of health/healing with your friends at Friache Aire today Carol. Have a wonder-filled weekend. :)
Carole, it seems as if most doctors all go to the same school of 'bed side manner'. I just had a bunch of tests and I never got two of the doctors to look at me either. They came in, said nothing, looked at the notes, and told me to go back in 3 months for more tests, to compare....
We are no longer people. We are the next number in line. It's very depressing.
Maybe I should go to Huntington. :)
Linda, I'm sorry to say I've lost faith in "modern Medicine." I couldn't get a straight answer and not so much as a greeting. I have always recieved results before with Wholistic Health and know I will now, too.
Sharon, I have this "don't give up attitude" which will keep me going until I find someone I really believe that will help me. These treatments basically run on the Energy in your body and THAT I know I have, it's going to be a huge help.
Joan, It really is refreshing to hear about that one nice, caring doctor. I haven't found a one who treats me as anything more then a number. And I don't like THEIR energy :) I need to stick with caring, optimistic people and I have no doubt I've found the right ones.
Teri, Honestly, I wouldn't know. You'd think $900 per month for ONE person for health care might produce some good doctors wouldn't you? I could think of money better spent elsewhere.
Cheryl, Interesting and I'm glad she took the time to answer his questions. I haven't had that type of courtesy and I haven't found a doctor that LISTENS to what I have to say. Geez, it's my body, I do know when something is a bit "off."
Lola, I hope it helps someone who recognizes there are other methods of treatment and people who CARE. I can't be the only one this happens to. I wish you a wonderful weekend as well!
Sylvie, I would take you in a heartbeat if you were here! I believe in this type of approach and believe more and more people are demanding it. I think your doctors might treat us both I've gotten the same thing!
hi Carole,
I try to stay as healthy as possible so that I don't have to go to a doctor....I've had excellent doctors over the years (GPs for my sons and for minor healthy issues of my own over time), however they've all left Ontario and headed to the USA where they can make more money and direct their own career path.
I've never heard of Amma Therapy before. Very sad that it's not being taught anymore. Perhaps your post will spur someone on to become a teacher of this ancient healing therapy.
Jo
What a different approach from Eastern and Western medicine huh? Thanks for sharing this information with the Active Rain community.
Hi Carole,
That's a shame that the "feng shui for the body" is no longer being taught. (It sounds a little like accupressure to me.) I wonder if it cannot be found out here in the west coast somewhere....
Thanks for introducing me to a new concept. I'll keep my eyes open for it!
Mary
Carole, I wanted to tell you that I went to a WHOListic centre (yes, with a W), and they gave me a 'potion' for you know what ... and told me I should start seeing some improvements within a month. I'll let you know. :) I'm feeling better already, thinking there may be something out there that works (and that I won't have to run around between doctors any longer).
Hi Carole! So sorry that you had such a time finding a physician--as others have said, we wonder why so many have turned to less traditional medicine?!
Carole, I am way in to holistic healing. When I go for my yearly physical it is written in my chart. I wear it as a badge of honor. (lol) They tried to put me on something when I found out I had silent esophageal reflux but I headed to the health food store instead. That was 5 years ago and I have NO PROBLEMS with it now.
Hi Jo, If your doctors are here in the States, I haven't seen them :) Amma Therapy is a wonderful way to heal naturally...and release old, unwanted Energy from the body. I too as sorry it will some day no longer be available.
Eileen, I am drawn to more natural healing with people that truly care. It's as different as night and day.
Sylvie, I'm just betting it WILL help and please keep me updated. I know you've had your share of the same types of physicians I've run across lately....Here's Hoping!!
Debe, People are demanding it now...they may be experiencing what I was and want a more natural and non invasive way to better health.
It's a big money making business Carole - not an art any more. and an assembly line to get you in & out.....
food for thought:
In 1979 I graduated nursing school and attended my first breast cancer cure fundraiser after caring for a 33 year old mother of 3 who died that year.
that was 30 years ago - where is the cure??? -
too much money is made on treatments -i.e. drugs, treatment centers, medical & supportive specialties have evolved & grown by leaps and bounds......all progress to support SICKNess
Great post
Sincerely,
Grace
Grace, I worked for doctors for several years. I mostly remember the drug reps coming in, buying free lunches and treating the doctors to anything from dinners to trips that were fully paid for---just push the drug. I honestly don't know if this is still going on but I suspect it is....years ago when my father had cancer he said they would not find a cure---for exactly the reasons you spoke of. How incredibly sad.
