Hello All! I am very excited to be a part of the Active Rain network. As a new member and new to the real estate business I need all the help I can get! This is also my first post and blogging is very new to me, so please have patience for this particular 'newbie'. I have yet to generate sales from any leads and any input you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated!
Many of my personal friends and seasoned real estate agents tell me this is not a good time to go into the business. My feelings, however, are different. It may not be the best time to make money but it is the right time to learn the business. I feel with the market the way it is, it's even more important to fulfill the needs of my clients by giving them truthful, informative answers in a timely manner. One can only do that with proper training and knowledge. Like everything else, the real estate business is going through the pendulum effect. I am not worried, because the pendulum always swings back!
I try very hard to stay optimistic and enthusiastic with every client I meet; but at times, it is difficult. I look forward to receiving comments any of you have in assisting me in this new venture; to keep me on the 'positive outlook' path to success. Thank you all very much for taking the time to read my post.........
Best of luck and success to everyone!

Emily, congratulations on your first post & welcome to AR! I am also new, and I have to say that you should keep your positive attitude and listen to advice but don't worry too much about anything negative that anyone has to say. The most important thing is that you should enjoy what you are doing and be happy! :)
Emily ~~ Welcome to activerain!! I am a newbie here myself. It is an awesome place to make connections and learn from one another. ~~ I see that you are with Weichert Realtors. They are an awesome company, take advantage of all they have to offer. ~~ That being said, check out my website. There is a link on the left hand side titled, 'free reports'. You may be able to find some useful information there. ~~ Take care and God bless!!

Emily, welcome to ActiveRain first of all. Secondly, great attitude. The Real Estate world is thriving and well today.
Emily this is a great time to get into business. Of course things are not rosy and may even get a little worse. But in a market like this you will learn the hard way, taking no shortcuts. If you had started a couple of years earlier, you may not have the knowledge or the ability to withstand the shock of having a downturn. This way, you are looking up not down.
Emily, welcome to ActiveRain! Yes, this is a GREAT time to learn this business. When the market turns, you'll be ready. Instead of hitting your head against a wall trying to turn lemons into lemonade, I suggest you focus on education so you'll have professional designations under your belt when the market turns. Start blogging and build a website while you have down time, in preparation for the market coming back. Start mailing to your sphere of influence and communities you want to farm to build your professional image with them... all of these things will put you in the right place.
Emily I agree with you completely. I have been in real estate for years but recently have decided that it is time to help the public with their real estate needs. I have had a lot of friends tell me that they think that this is the worst time to get into real estate but I feel differently. Now is the time to get all of your training, designations and developing your client data base. When times do start getting better (and they will) we will be ready, established and will have the edge over others that will wait until "the market gets better." Our customers need us now more then ever.
I started in a really bad market when everyone told me it was a horrible time to get into the business. I proved them wrong. Always go with your own gut!
Emily (my daughter's name!) if "Attitude is Everything" then you have scored two slam-dunks. In a great first blog post and great mindset for real estate. Welcome!
People that want to succeed will succeed. I've seen people try to get into real estate whe the market was on the up-swing. They had a huge battle with the established agents that had weathered the storm. There's never a perfect time, it all depends on the person.
yes, If you can make it now you can make it in the good market!
