New York City St Patrick’s Day Parade
A Short Train ride from Newburgh NY
It’s that time of year again. It’s time for another parade with marching bands. Last week I wrote about all the St. Patrick’s Day Parades in the area near Newburgh NY. Those parades are great as they are in local communities. However great they are and convenient, they are not New York City.
Saturday, March 17th 2012 is time for the big one! New York City hosts the largest St Patrick’s Day Parade anywhere. No floats and no cars and no floating balloons, but still there are over 150,000 people marching in this parade. The parade goes up 5th Avenue from 44th to 79th Street. Toward the north end of the St. Patrick's Day Parade route are the best viewing spots: you can avoid the crowds that throng the sidewalks below 59th Street. The St. Patrick's Day Parade ends at 79th Street, around 2 or 3 p.m
Newburgh NY in the Hudson Valley is an Easy Commute to the Parade. Just a hop on the MTA in Beacon and you are in Grand Central Station in about 1hr 15 minutes. You don't have to be Irish to attend. Feeling Lucky? Enjoy! and Think Green.
