A holiday trip to my hometown revealed a joyus amusement in town. Northport Village is an old whaling community with a bustling historic Main Street that empytys onto a wonderous harbor on Long Island's North Shore. The street is lined with old fashioned buildings which now house modern shops, restaurants and boutiques.
As I drove through town on Christmas night, I was surprised to see the Northport Hardware Company all decked out with holiday splendor, including a display paying homage to the leg lamp from the movie "A Christmas Story".
Turns out, the store now does an "Annual Leg Lamp Lighting", which drew a crowd of hundreds this year, according to Newsday. You can click here for the article.
