Let's hope for sunshine this weekend! I'll be starting my Saturday morning at the Northport Farmers Market. For those of you who don't know, the Northport Farmers market is held in the village every Saturday morning in the summer and fall from 8 am to 12 pm at the end of Main St, down at the harbor. This year it began on June 13th and runs until November 21st. Not only is there fresh produce from the east end, but you can also find organic meat, artisanal cheeses, fresh caught fish and other goodies.
After I bring my loot home, I'm going to try and sneak back in the afternoon between appointments and check out some of the plein air artists who will be painting different scenes throughout our picturesque village. The Northport Arts Coalition is sponsoring the first Plein Air /Classical Music Festival Saturday June 27 from 12:30 to 4:30. So grab a blanket or beach chair and head over to the gazebo in Northport Village Park to listen to the classical music that will be performed by renowned Northport resident Bassam Saba and The New York Arabic Orchestra. Soprano Ruthann Turekian, The Matthew Pierce Ensemble, and Rey Burns' Crossroad, a classical jazz quintet, are also scheduled to perform.
