Welcome to Northport - Living in Northport, Visit Northport.

Hello friends, thank you for reading this very first post in my blog about Northport and Northport real estate. Northport is truly a beautiful and welcoming town. With each new update my plan is to sprinkle in news of note, upcoming things to do as well as report on the real estate market in and around Northport.

Cow Harbor Day festival and Cow Harbor 10k Run - let the Cows and the Racers run wild!

Mark your calendars - the weekend of September 20th and 21st is a must attend festival weekend on Long Island.

The Great Cow Harbor 10-Kilometer Run takes place on Saturday, Sept 20th, and the following day is the famously fun annual Cow Harbor Day Parade and Festival (Sunday, September 21st).

If you've never been to the annual Cow Harbor Day festival in Northport you are missing out on a truly wonderful event. Friendly people, great food, and of course the beauty and charm of this historic village are on up a display. The parade featuring bovine related costumes and floats are a common theme, the parade kicks off at noon and once again will feature some of the areas best high school marching bands, antique cars and once again the Trolley will roll down mainstreet. Cow Harbor Day is all about old-time values, family fun and town pride.

Merchant sidewalk sales will begin at 11 AM, vendors will be displaying arts and crafts and gifts that touch on the history of this picture post card town. The park and band shell area as well as the dock parking area will be the hub of entertainment, featuring live bands, street performers and rides and games from Newton's shows of East Northport.

Northport Real Estate News.......................

The latest (2nd Qtr) Real Estate sales figures for Northport/East Northport were recently released by the Long Island board of realtors (LIBOR), and I believe the news is good.

While the number of homes sold year over year is down almost 20%, prices in Northport as well as E. Northport are up almost 7%. I believe declining number of homes sold the past year is primarily due to the lack of quality homes on the market. Many sellers, who did not urgently need to sell their home this past year, chose not to put their home up for sale.

I believe the real estate market are Long Island is beginning to turn a positive corner. In many towns and areas sales are up prices remain good and days on the market are shrinking. Positive news is even starting to make it into the doom and gloom loving media. I choose to remain positive, here are the stats for Northport and East Northport
