AARP's show "inside E Street" ran a very fair and balanced video piece on Reverse Mortgages titled "Reverse Mortgage - Rescue or trap?" The title stinks, but the piece is very good.
The video is over 26 minutes long and the first half contains interviews with two members of Congress (Judy Biggert, R, IL and Barney Frank, D, MA) who seem to have a good understanding of how a Reverse Mortgage works.
The second half is an interview with Peter Bell from the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association and Suzanna Montezemello from the Center for Responsible Lending. Peter Bell is on the ball (as always) and Suzanna is not too bad.
The last few minutes are an interview with Mary Beth Franklin from Kipilinger's Personal Finance. She has a good grasp of the product and a very good understanding of some of the many reasons people are taking the loans out today.
