I recently received a telephone call for one of the Realtors in my office. The person on the other end of the
phone claimed to be a real estate agent in Honduras and stated that he saw the agent's profile on Active Rain. I informed the caller that the agent was not in the office and asked if I could take a message for her. The caller then said well I think you can help me instead. This response caused me to become a bit suspicious. But I continued to listen to what he had to say.

The caller explained that he has a client from the middle east who wants to purchase property in the United States. He continued by saying he has a certificate of funds for his client and would need assistance from a Realtor in the United States to locate the property. He also said the Realtor would have to provide much personal information to satisfy his client. And would have to open an escrow account and provide the account information for money transfers.
At this point, I am definitely thinking SCAM. So, I interrupted him and said sorry but this office cannot help you
and then I hung up the telephone. I told the agent about the call. She too felt that it was a SCAM. It seems that members of the AR community are becoming prime targets. First it was via E-mails and now it's with telephone calls. Just wanted to share this experience with the AR community.
