Helping “Operation Support Our Troops”, Orange and Sullivan County, NY Style

When word got out that Operation Support Our Troops was falling short in donations in the Bethel, New York area, Rita Sheehan, president of the Orange-Sullivan Town Clerks Association, came up with a solution that affects our troops and residents of Orange and Sullivan Counties, NY. Put drop boxes in town halls to accept items destined for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A total of 18 town clerks signed on to participate in this effort to collect much appreciated donations through October 15th.

In Sullivan County, participating town halls include; Bethel, Callicoon, Delaware, Forestburgh, Highland, Liberty, Mamakating, Neversink, and Thompson.

In Orange County, participating town halls include; Blooming Grove, Chester, Crawford, Deerpark, Hamptonburgh, Monroe, Mount Hope, Newburgh, and Warwick.

Items that can be left in drop boxes include; nonperishable food, new clothes, phone cards, and DVDs.

In addition to items listed above, Operation Support Our Troops is in need of money donations to cover the heavy cost of postage. Checks written to, "Operation Support Our Troops," should be given directly to town clerks.
