Not what it was worth five years ago when the economy was booming, not one year ago, or not even six months ago when property values are falling. What a neighbor got for his home doesn't always determine what your home is worth and often times the improvements you've made have no bearing either.

Yes, the value of your home is based on what buyers are willing to pay for it, and we can discover what that is by looking at "the comps" or the comparables. Comparables are properties like yours, same number of bedrooms, same construction, same general location and so one, that have sold within the last three months (or longer if nothing similar to your property has sold recently).
