NYSC Family Fun Fest

Why go: Check out this local gym by trying a free class—kids and adults, too! Kids can try swimming classes and older kids can test out a basketball clinic. Check with the club for other offerings.

Take Me To The River Music and Art Festival

Where/When: Draper Park at Washington Avenue, Hastings, Saturday, September 10 from 12 p.m. - 9: 30 p.m.

Why go: As a friend of mine and I described it recently, it is like "Woodstock in our own backyard." Come with your picnic blanket, chairs and a cooler and be ready for a day to remember. Great music, activities including yoga and arts for kids and lots of fun.

Pricing: In advance, $15 and $20 at the door. $5 for kids 10-17 and 9 and under are free. Purchase here.

Jurrasic Park

Where/When: Jacob Burns Film Center, 405 Manville Rd., Pleasantville on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11 at 12 p.m. Film runs 127 minutes.

Why go: You saw it when it came out in 1993, now take your kids with you and watch the dinosaurs come to life on the big screen.

Briarcliff Manor Community Day

Where/When: Law Memorial Park, Briarcliff Manor, on Saturday, September 10 from 2 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Why go: Join your friends and come out to get one more swim in, games and activities for kids starting at 4 p.m., enjoy a magic show at 6:45 p.m., fireworks at 8:30 p.m. followed by dance party.

Day of Chesed (Kindness), Service and Remembrance

Where/When: JCC of Mid-Westchester 999 Wilmot Rd., Scarsdale on Sunday, September 11 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Why go: It is hard to believe it has been ten years since 9/11. This event brings together the community for service projects to help commemorate this tragic day in our nation's history. Projects for young children, too.
