Today, in the process of showing homes I passed my local animal shelter. The sign out front was asking for donations to build a barn. They have been receiving more big animals and need the storage space for food. Several weeks ago they put out a call for food and the community response was huge! More food then they ever received. Now my local shelter serves more than a dozen communities in 2 counties, so their need can be great but the response is usually great also. Anyway, when I got back to the office I was flipping through today's paper and came across Mary Esparra's "Shelter Tails" Column in the Sunday Times Herald Record. It was kismit, it was all about giving to a shelter and a list of the shelters and what they wished for. Before the barn I never thought about the large animals needing shelters, and what that would be.
I've listed the shelters in my area who provided a wish list and some of the out of the norm thing they are looking for. Do you have an item in a box somewhere your not using but the shelter could. Call your local shelter and see what they need. Hummmm, I'm thinking a great marketing opportunity!
