Many know of the famous New Paltz Regatta, which is a home made boat race on the Wallkill River. For 2008 it will be held on June 8th. There are all kinds of boats themes and contraptions brought to the event which is great fun for the entire family.
New this year will be a rubber duckie race run by Family of New Paltz- the organization that acts as a critical safety net for people in crisis. The event is seen as an important new fundraiser for the organization to help cover rising food costs and other items needed by clients.
Family will sell rubber ducks entries for $5 each or you can buy a "quack pack" consisting of five entries for just $20. Every duckie will be numbered and each number is assigned to an entry. The ducks will be tossed off the Wallkill River Bridge in the village and the first duckies crossing the finish line will get their winners some very nice rewards.
Interested in helping? Many volunteers are needed. Call Kathy Cartegena at Family of New Paltz to assist, to donate to Family or donate prizes for participants.
