I will be on TV this month - TLC network

I was chosen to be on TV along with one of my listings and my seller. We had filming last week sort of a "casting call" kind of interview and the network liked both myself and my seller and the home. Filming starts this week then a big open house weekend in 2 weeks that will be on TV. It is being filmed by the ABC network and will air on the TLC network, one of their various home show/real estate shows. It is a new show/series so the title has not been decided yet.

Anyone in the Putnam County and Northern Westchester County area interested in stopping buy with some clients ( they do not want just agents alone) let me know and I will fill you in and when/where. Buyers are extremely encouraged to show up. I was chosen along with a broker in NJ and a broker in Florida, 3 different areas and homes will be featured on the show separately. So far as I know the topic has something to do with selling in a down market, like the one we are in now.

Cool!  What did you have to do to get the initial nod?

Judith, they wanted a good story, a house that is really nice, has had big price reductions (my listings was $110,000 higher with a previous Realtor), a story that viewers can relate too ( my client leaves at 5:30am every day and not home until 8pm at night and has a 17 yr old whom she drops off every day to school out of the area and picks up at night) as well as the broker had to have a good personality and comfortable on camera. They said we qualified for all of that. Luckily we have had an amazing amount of activity in the past few days on my listing, it would work out perfect if we can get an accepted offer before the filming is over because the network will then film the buyers as part of the show as well.

You could use that as an advertising pitch.  Might draw more folks.

Congratulations on your upcoming tv debut!  I'm so glad to hear that someone is finally doing a piece about the turned market.  Everything on these days still says that houses are flying off the market, and we all know how untrue that is!

Hi Jim & Maria, I agree. I see some of these shows when a Realtor comes over and recommends $50,000+ of repairs/upgrades and the sellers smile and have no problem with it! I watch these shows and tell my wife it is not even remotely close to the reaction a seller gives when a broker recommends work to be done on a house before putting it up for sale, even a few thousand dollars the sellers are not happy.

I will be running ads for the open house and talking about the home being filmed for TV.

COngrats Mike this is awesome for you!!!!!!!!!1

When is the show going to air so i could be on the lookout?

Eddy

I think it will take some time to be aired, originally it was supposed to be within the month but it may take a month or 2 longer than that which is ok, I hope to have it in contract/sold by the time it airs so I will get the buyer to be on TV as well if they want to be. I of course will post a blog when the date comes that it airs. Thanks!

Great opportunity for you and your office.  Good luck.

That's awesome!  Make us Rainers proud!  We know you will!

I'm not sure what this program will be about since its a new show, but I like some of the real estate shows that are on now. Consumers can pick up some good tips on buying and selling. I particularly like the shows that show sellers who are unrealistic on pricing, hopefully it will educate people about the fact that buyers determine the value of a house.

Very neat!  Congratulations!!! You are now a STAR!  :-)

Mike,

Thats cool look forward to seeing it. Cool website you have too, full of info.

hope you'll keep us updated. I knew someone who did a segment on a craft related type show & they said that although everything seemed natural it was really very scripted just like a movie or TV. I would be very interested to see what your experience will be. Good Luck

That's great!  Keep us informed as to the name and actual description of the show when it's officially announced.
