Many people do not know that Woodstock history goes back to 1895 when the town began. The town has played a big part in the arts and crafts movement since 1902. It has always been a mecca for artists, writers and music players since its beginning and has always been considered a very active artist colony since the 19th and early 20th century. The town is bathed in wonderful history and has historic buildings, restaurants, and many shops to visit. Many of the towns artists and musicians still live in the area just outside of Woodstock.
