Akron Ohio and Summit County Ohio Events Calendar

All right, how many of you are old enough to remember the '60's and early '70's? Can you believe it's been 40 years since Woodstock? Those were great times for many of us and some great memories!

In a field near Yasgur's Farm in Bethel, New York on August 15^th, 1969 the three day concert known as "Woodstock" began. Remember the song Joni Mitchell wrote and was performed by Crosby, Stills and Nash, not long after? The first notes of music rang out at 5:07pm and continued until mid-morning of August 18th.

Jimi Hendrix was the last to play and he performed "the Star Spangled Banner" like no one before or after. The concert featured 24 bands and more than a half million young people were in attendance. This concert came to symbolize the counter-culture movement of the 60's. I didn't realize I was counter-culture at the time or I would have been more serious! LOL!

There is plenty still to do in Akron Ohio the next two weeks. Enjoy the dog days of summer and get out there, pretend it's the '70's and make some memories, because time sure does fly!
