For the second year in a row, Avon Lake will be the proud community of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway! This is a community service project sponsored by Gamellia Homes and WOIO CBS 19 to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A newly-built home, along with other high-end prizes, will be given away at the end of the promotion on June 28, 2009. TICKETS: $100 tickets will go on sale March 2, 2009. You may reserve your ticket(s) at all Reehorst Cleaners locations, Value City Furniture locations, the St. Jude Dream Home Open House or by phone at 800.834.5786 for a chance to win the St. Jude Dream Home or one of the other 14 prizes. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on February 2, 2009 at Currant Village.

Gamellia Homes generously donated the St. Jude Dream Homes located in Currant Village in 2008 and 2009. Currant Village is modeled after German Village in Columbus. GRAND PRIZE: The first place prize is the St. Jude Dream Home house located in the Currant Village Subdivision of Avon Lake, Ohio. The St. Jude Dream Home house features:
  • Construction coordinated by Gamellia Homes;
  • Valued at approximately $370,000;
  • Three bedrooms;
  • Two and one-half baths;
  • 3,238 square feet;
  • First floor owners' retreat;
  • Finished Basement;
  • First floor laundry room; and
  • Front and backyard landscaping.
Directions: I-90 to Avon Lake/Avon exit (Exit 153). Right off of the exit onto Center Road (OH-83N). Continue on OH-83N for 2 miles; right on Walker Road; right on Lear Road to Currant Village (1/2 mile on left). -or- I-80 West to OH-10 Lorain Rd. exit (Exit 152) toward I-480E (portions toll). Left onto Lear-Nagle Rd. Continue on Nagle Road/Lear Road. Turn right into Currant Village 1/2 mile on left.
