Kid's Fest This Saturday in Avon Lake

Who knew "back to school" could be so cool ??

The inaugural "Back to School" Kids Fest will be held at Weiss Field on Saturday, July 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The purpose of the outdoor event is to raise donations of school supplies to be donated to the Avon / Avon Lake Community Resource Services (CRS), while at the same time providing an afternoon of family-oriented fun for children.

Children and families are invited to a fun-filled Saturday in the park packed with outdoor activities and games for children ages two through ten -- all for the cost of some basic school supplies!! Just bring a donation of school supplies as your "ticket" to experience the fun and enjoy a cookout lunch. All donations will be donated to CRS to ensure that every child has access to the school supplies he or she needs to start school in August.

Any donation of any size is encouraged, but the following supplies are in high demand:

The festival will feature popular children's games and activites such as relays, bouncy castles and hands-on crafts. A cook-out lunch -- catered by Novotny Catering -- will be included and Romeo's pizza will also be available. At noon, there will be a concert by the local all-girl band, G-Force. Special giveaways will be awarded throughout the event, such as Lake Erie Crushers' merchandise and tickets and Wendy's gift certificates.
