I was setting up an appointment this past week for a buyer who wanted to see a property. When a buyer's agent calls into just about any real estate office, the staff in the majority of calls will put the caller on hold. Sometimes one will hear good music, and perhaps start jamming to the music.
At other times, you hear their marketing sales pitches:
It is this last bullet I take exception with in today's market.
Sure, there are a few buyers out there who are financially well-equipped to handle buying a home, thereby owning two, and then selling their first home after they move into their newly purchased home. That said, this scenario doesn't apply to most buyers in today's market.
If it doesn't apply, say, oh...to 98% of buyers in today's market? Why does a real estate company advertise this message on their voice mail, their website, their marketing brochure so prominently? While this may have been semi-standard fare at the height of the real estate bubble of 2005-06, I have only had one buyer this year buy before they sell.
It makes me wonder if this company's marketing department, executives, and even agents are in tune with the realities of the marketplace.
