It was a quiet month in Lake Olde Towne East, my home town. Five homes sold on the near east side from Mt. Vernon to Main Streets and I-71 to Nelson, my de facto Olde Towne East definition for the purposes of recaps, statistics and the blog in general.
The least expensive home? An 1800 sq ft brick Italianate bank owned 3 bedroom on Rich Street built in 1889. It needs work, a good amount, but it sold for $64,000 last month.
The most expensive home to sell in Olde Towne East last month was the fantastically wonderful 1010 Bryden Road. 6,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 98×150 lot, Media Room, Sweet Kitchen, Seven fireplaces, Cherry, Mahagony, Oak, Maple, you name it. Built ins, coffered ceilings, soapstone counters. This hit the market a year ago at $499,900, took December and January off and sold for $405,000. This is the kind of home buyers from out of town freak out about selling for only $405,000. This home, this much home, this close to downtown Columbus?
