Ello Blokes!
The University of Akron needed all of regulation and all but 5 seconds of the 1st and 2nd overtimes to defeat the Ohio State University in the round of 32 yesterday at Lee Jackson Field.
The Zips (17-1-4) will advance to face Northwestern (14-4-3), which defeated 12th-seeded Notre Dame (12-7-2) in its second-round match-up, Sunday.
Wednesday’s game, which was originally scheduled to be played Tuesday night at Lee Jackson Field, was played at Green State Stadium at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s High School due to unplayable field conditions.
After Wednesday’s game, the NCAA committee ruled that Akron’s home game against the Wildcats will be played at Northwestern Sunday at 2 p.m. (EST).
I see no reason why the Zips can't win against Northwestern and if they beat NU, then they will move on to the round of 8 to play the winner of North Carolina and Ill-Chicago.
I am keeping an eye on my other Alma Mater, South Florida which is also in the round of 16.
I would love to see a final four with Akron v. USF.
