Hard work, but in a strangely relaxing way ...

You would think when I finally take an entire day off that I might spend it basking in the sunshine, or shopping, or perhaps even napping.

First of all, I simply do not bask in the sunshine unless there is a boat, a pool, or an ocean nearby - and alas, there were none of those things nearby today.

As for shopping, I am simply not budgeted for shopping at the moment ... but I will be SOON.

As for napping, I really find it hard to nap as of late. Too much happening and too much going on and on and on in my head.

So, what did I do on my day off?

Refinished the hardwood floors in the living room, dining room, and hallway. Whipped my butt, I can tell you that much. Then made homemade crabcakes, sauteed mushrooms and heirloom cherry tomatoes of multiple colors and risotto. Heavenly for sure. Oh yeah, and fresh strawberries.

fireworks

The nice thing about the day was the constant background noise of fireworks being set off. Really quite soothing.

I think we will soon go take a blanket out the back door and mosey onto the golf course and see what novice fireworks may shoot up in the sky.

That way we won't be inside sleeping when the neighborhood kids accidently set the house on fire.

Sounds like a wonderfully rewarding day, Dee. There's nothing like a day of physical labor followed by tasty food, good company, and fireworks. Enjoy!

Thanks Maria. I forgot something, though - the WINE!

Hi Dee~ But, doesn't it feel so good to get things accomplished by doing themyourself around the house?  I have been painting, sealing porches, patios and landscape curbing and all kinds of home work.

My wife was has to work this weekend (she's a nurse) so I'm alone. No working on the house, yard, etc, but for me I wiped the hard drives on hers and my laptops.  Now they fly like when they were brand new!  While the operating systems were reloading I took time to read the Declaration of Independence a couple of times and now I am watching fireworks.  We are so blessed!

Dee,

I smiled when I read I simply do not bask in the sunshine unless there is a boat, a pool, or an ocean nearby.

Dang, girl!  If we waited for those conditions here in Tucson, we'd never get a tan.  LOL

HAHA Mike! We Zonians are a different breed, aren't we? I bask in sunshine given ANY possible opportunity!!!!!

Dee, sounds like an awesome day! I cleaned out and rearranged our CDs, DVDs, videogames and VHS tapes. They take up 2 large bookcases and 3 smaller shelves. It was a darn mess! :)

In between, posting and uploading photos for some listings. BBQ ribeyes and the fireworks start in about an hour.

What's today again? :)

It feels great to accomplish on any day really . . . but do NOT forget the wine!

Hi Dee, I hope you are enjoying the fireworks and the wine and that no one catchs their house on fire!

I love holidays where I can just relax and enjoy my family

Vickie - You and I are on the same wave, ength for sure. Hard work makes me feel GOOD!

Dan - Did you actually READ the Declaration of Independence? Whata marvelous thing!

Mike - I don't have a tan. Perhaps I need to relax my basking rules?

Candace - You had a busy day, too!

Shirley - My house is still standing, but I swear the neighborhood rugrats were aiming for my windows!

Judy - I agree!

Dee - sounds like a busy, but fulfilling day. I am with you on the basking in the sun bit, although I do get a dose of it on the golf course every few weeks, and in the yard every week. Hope your neighborhood kids missed your house with their fireworks;^)

Dee...

It does sound like you had a great day. Our day consisted of hangin' by the pool and waiting for the young couple next door to set their boating dock on fire :)

TLW...ROAR!

Mike - No fire dam age - so far. The fireworks are still going off!

TLW - Oh gosh. I've witnessed boat docks on fire - not a pretty sight. Have a great week!
