Free Dog License - Toledo
An area group in Toledo is working to help people keep their pets.
A group working to force major changes at the dog warden's office is also working to help people keep their pets. And they're putting their money where their mouths are.
Families facing foreclosure or job loss often have a tough time coming up with the money to buy a license from the Lucas County dog warden. But help is now available through a group that doesn't always see eye to eye with the warden's office.
More than 150 people showed up for a vigil at the warden's office this weekend to remember the thousands of dogs that have been euthanized. The Ohio Coalition of Dog Advocates raised about $1,000 at the vigil. That money will now be used to help people buy 2010 dog licenses, even though the group doesn't agree with the office that sells those licenses. By Lucas county Warden Dog Service Website
