Blackberry or IPhone or Both?

Blackberry or IPhone or both?

Recently I wrote a blog about buying a new Iphone 3G versus a Blackberry 8900. I really wanted to go witht Iphone. I mean, they are so very cool, right? But I had been using a Blackberry Pearl and had been pretty happy with it.

So off I went to the store to check out getting into a new Iphone 3G. Hello. Can you say over $170 per month for unlimited everything. OUCH. I want one, but not THAT bad. So I ended up going with the new Blackberry Curve 8900. It costs me under $100 per month for unlimited everything. Big savings.

So I like my new Blackberry, but I'm kind of bummed over the Iphone costs, right? Well, I have found great solution. It's call the IBerry Theme for the Blackberry. Yep, you guessed it, the IBerry Theme mimicks the Iphone theme. How cool is that!

Here's a screen shot from my Blackberry Curve with the theme installed and running.IBerry for the Blackberry As I understand it, the IBerry Theme was developed by someone named Artem Cheban. I found it online by searching for Blackberry Curve 8900 themes.

Now, of course, the Blackberry Curve 8900is not a touch screen like the IPhone is, but if you are a Blackberry user, you already know that. I believe there is a version of this theme for the Blackberry Storm also.

I found the theme online for less than $5.00. With a discount, I paid about $2.00. Once I installed it, it worked perfectly.

I like that you can move the icons around and also that you can set any icons you want in the home panel (the bottom screen). I keep my "My Faves", my Antair Spam Filter, my Notepad, my Blackberry World Icon and the Profiles Icon so I can switch the phone quickly from silent to vibrate or other modes.

The picture on the right is a screen shot of what the screen looks like when you push the "Blackberry" button to the left of the trackball. You can see all of your icons and move through them on this screen.

All in all, I'd say this application will make many of us Blackberry users pretty happy. Although it isn't an Iphone, it still gives us a great interface with an Iphone feel. And the really cool thing is that it makes your Blackberry stand out from the crowd!
