I know, sounds like some ridiculous car commercial, right?! I should have on a fake smile and a really bad sport coat right about now.
Seriously though, my predictions have come true; the phones are ringing, the lockboxes are popping, and the ink is trying to dry this past week. When everyone in town was stressing about the lack of activity in
December, I kept saying "Just wait until the first of the year, and the buyers will be out looking to finish what they started before the Christmas season." Then January 1st hit and it was like someone had flipped a switch, or opened the floodgates, or whatever other analogy you'd like to insert here.
You see, I typically average about 2-4 showing per week on each of my listings, and in the entire month of December, I got a grand total of 7 showing appointments scheduled for my 9 listings. Quite a drop-off, and enough to send most agents (and home sellers) looking for the nearest ledge. At that time, however, I just kept telling home owners to get their homes spruced up and on the market in time for the new years rush, and sure enough when the first of the year hit, we were back up to 2-4 showings per week per listing.
Well, here's what that activity has brought over the past 7 days:
Now, if that's not activity, I don't know what is. It feels like Spring again, and we haven't even made it through the worst weather months yet. And if you're one of the home owners I visited with that's on the fence as to whether now is the time, you better pick up the phone and take advantage now. Get ready for a busy 2008!
