Canadian Housing Boom is Over, TD Bank says...

Today on the way to the office, I was listening to the radio and yet again I heard the dreaded news: TD Bank says that the Canadian Housing Boom is over…

I know that many people are very concerned about the future of our Housing Markets in Canada, but what does news such as this truly mean to the average you and me?

Let's take a closer look at my adopted Home Town.

Beautiful Barrie in Central Ontario.

For about 5-6 years now we have been enjoying the steady growth and an upward trend in our local Real Estate Market. Today we see a slow decline from that upward trend.

That does not mean that things will go crashing down in a cloud of dust!

Yes, at the moment we are coming into the Buyer's market, and that maybe bad news for the Sellers... But aren't those Sellers also Buyers at some point in The Game?

Yes it may be more difficult to sell your $350,000+ home, but just think about the opportunities and choices awaiting you when the time comes to shop for a another home for you and your Family.

The gas prices make us cringe every time we have to fill up, and that is one of the reasons why our GTA Commuters are moving back South of Barrie... That was getting to me, like many others I felt uneasy about the future of Barrie.

Then, while driving in the South End, it hit me!

Just take a closer look at many new developments that are sprouting everywhere in Barrie, you will realize that this wonderful city that has so much to offer will continue to grow and prosper.

All the new commercial developments, even new residential subdivisions, stores, shopping plazas, new doctor's offices and medical centres.

Barrie will never go back to what it used to be years ago. There is no turning back! We will continue to grow big and strong. And this is good news!

Everything that a Family may ever need is here in the City. All the amenities, shopping, community services, spacious new hospital... a beautiful lake, smack in the middle of the City!

Where else will you find that?

Those who already live here enjoy the proximity to the Cottage Country while everyone else sits in traffic every Friday night trying to get to their vacation homes and then suffer again on the way home on Sunday night.

We are already here! No need to travel "The 400".

Winter time is even better! On our doorstep there are three beautiful downhill resorts, one spectacular cross-country spot and Blue Mountain just 40 minutes away! Winter sports paradise!

So, Seller's be optimistic, be realistic, get your homes ready for sale before you list them, price them right and listen to your Realtor - we do have your best interest in mind and we work for you.

Stop warring, yes Barrie Real Estate Market is slowing down, but it will never become stagnant and dead. Let's face it, people will still buy homes, they will look for great deals, and in Barrie they will find much more than that.
