Brampton, Ontario, Canada Are You Prepared?

In Brampton, Ontario, Canada the month of May has been proclaimed as "Emergency Preparedness Month".

cartoon man running from disasterThis year is extra special as our City of Brampton's Emergency Measures Office celebrates 10 years of service. Interactive displays and education will be held at select recreation centers and delivered to elementary schools all month.

So how prepared are you for a major disaster?
We know we are very fortunate to live in our area, where major disasters are almost unheard of, but they can occur. Remember the Ontario blackout in 2003?

The City of Brampton's Emergency Measures Office works with other departments on disaster planning.
They are prepared and have tested their capabilities.

In a major disaster the emergency responders and the City need to look after the most affected people and areas and therefore it could take approximately 72 hours for vital services to be restored to the balance of the City.

The Emergency Measures Office asks all residents to be prepared
to look after yourselves and your families for at least the first 72 hours.
