NEWMARKET, the town that has over time stepped out of the rural aspect of living into now an immaculate more urban lifestyle with the many upgrades that have been set into place in the last few years. But now , Newmarket has a new idea that has been set into place that will push Newmarket into a whole new level of urban living.
The Town of Newmarket is building a beautifully designed urban park in the downtown area of NEWMARKET. Back in 2005 The town had held a brainstorming session to determine the best way to use the publicaly-owned lands of downtown Newmarket. With large amounts of public feedback from the session , the town of Newmarket decided the urban park would be the best desicion for the growth of Newmarket.
Newmarket recieved more the 4 million dollars in funding from the building Canada fund in 2009 for the new innovative parks development in downtown Newmarket. The new 8.4 acre park that is known as the " Community Urban Space Project" will be located near Fairy Lake Park , adjacent to Main Street and along Holland River. Construction began on July 12th 2010. This urban park will drastically strengthen the role of Newmarkets Historic Downtown. The Town of Newmarket will also feature a fully-intergrated trail system from Newmarkets northern to southern border after the park has been built.
When the park opens in spring of 2011 , it will feature an open skating rink for the winter months but it will be turned into an extensive water feature for the rest of the year. Also, the park will be full of hard and soft zones that will be ideal for activites such as concerts, picnics, events and farmers markets. It will also feature a large canopy providing shade as well as shelter and steps down towards the Holland Rivers Edge.
Newmarket just keeps getting better and better and will continue to improve and GO UP in the years to come. The Home Team from Century 21 Heritage Group Inc. Newmarket is very excited to watch Newmarket grow into an even more fantastic town then it already is. The Sky's the Limit ..
