When To Get Your Lawyer Involved In Your Private Sale

We are often asked the question when you should get your real estate lawyer involved in your sale. You don't require a legal professional until the time comes to complete the paperwork.

Our experience shows us that that there are 2 different scenarios that can play out. The first is a buyer will look at a property and call later to say they have been to their lawyer and have an offer. The seller will then forward it to their lawyer for review.

In the second case, the buyer and seller will sit at the kitchen table and discuss the price, closing date and chattels that will be included in the sale. They will strike a verbal agreement.

HomesByOwner of Durham Region has prepared a form that will take over from here. The buyer and seller can answer the questions and when complete, will have the information necessary for a lawyer to draw up the Agreement of Purchase and Sale.

Our solution for private sellers makes it easy to proceed with finalizing the sale. There is no need to lose any sleep as the real estate lawyers representing the buyer and seller will prepare the documents, therefore eliminating any fear of mistakes.

We make the paperwork stage a non-issue because you are not going to do it.
