Trunk or Treat ...

Trunk or Treat .....Looks like there are no Trunk or Treat in Toronto, ON. I have not heard of Trunk or Treat before, until I saw the Week 2 –October’s Trending Queries.

Just as homes are decorated for Halloween, Trunk or Treat parties usually take place in a parking lot, where the parents park their cars, lift the trunk hoods and decorate their vehicles. The children then go trunk-to-trunk to be spooked and receive their candy, like spider cookies; Spider cookie parents and children get to enjoy this family event.

It maybe an alternative to Halloween, and associated with Schools and Church Fellowship functions, as a fun, informal good time for everyone. Some churches call it Light the Night and have food, games and entertainment. It is just a way for parents to keep their kids’ safe, rather than going door-to-door, crossing streets, etc.

I guess it is more popular in the Unites States than in Canada. Just to give Toronto a plug! In Toronto, Trick or Eat is a project involving high school, college and university students collecting non-perishables for local food banks. They ask for cans and packages to feed the hungry. They are doing a good deed, and also get to play dress-up to indulge in Halloween.
