Why I love living in Toronto!

I moved to Toronto, Ontario 12 years ago and have loved every minute of it!

Well, except for the Snow Storm of 1999 when the mayor of Toronto called in the Armed Forces to cope with the unprecedented snow fall! And as the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) shut down operation, I watched Torontonians cross country ski to work! Now thats dedication.

We live in a city, province actually that enjoys what we call "Seasons", you know, winter, spring, summer and fall. Our city thrives on seasons; retailers, restaurateurs, sports teams and REAL ESTATE!

From the lousy "love/hate" relationship we all have with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nuit Blanche, Winterlicious, ferry rides to the Island to Pride Weekend...Toronto has it all! Great dining, museums, shopping and of course the Torontonians!!

Ok, so my first day in Toronto, I popped out of St. Andrews Subway Station and asked a "friendly gentleman" where a certain Campus was...his response: NOTHING, just walked by and said nothing. I did a full 360, held back tears, clutched my purse (I was from the 'Burbs and thought everyone in Toronto was a mugger), and started an awkward trek in some direction. When a woman stopped me, dressed very professionally in her business suit and running shoes, and asked if I needed help. After a brief interaction, she wished me well in my studies and much success in the city. I knew I was going to love living here!

12 years later, I will always stop when I see someone who looks lost in our big/little City of Toronto.

Whether you're just visiting or relocating, Toronto is a warm and hospitable place to be...and no, we won't mug you, and not everyone ignores you...we are good, friendly people and love to meet new people!

And that's why I love living in Toronto!
